Our Trip to Our Nations Capital

On the ending of our Lower Eastern Sea Board Prayer Trip, I started to enter Washington, D.C. to attempt to get a Visa so I could enter the country of Israel on September First of this year.

The United States of America President's House

On Friday, July 11th I drove into Washington D.C. this was actually my first trip to our nations capital, save one trip I drove through to Chevy Chase Maryland for a prophetic conference over twelve years back. The last time I was led to walk out into the Potomac River onto some shoals and pray for our Nation and the people living  there also for the leadership of our Nation.

This time I didn't have a hotel reservation as I wanted to stay as close to Dupont Circle as possible so I could walk to the Israeli Embassy on the following Monday morning to check into obtaining a Visa so I could enter into the country on September first.  Though as I've had time to review my steps, I do recall understanding to get a hotel in New Carrollton, but I had my mind made up on going to Dupont Circle and walking to the embassy the following Monday morning, so as I have stated in the past, I am hard-headed at times. (oh hindsight)

I was extremely tired from driving the past ten days, my truck was not working properly, it became a drudgery to drive, then coupled with most of the hotels not having the little freezers in the refrigerators to freeze my ice packs every night, having to fill my coolers with ice, another troublesome duty to accomplish. There seemed to be such a mirage of little things that kept me from enjoying the trip, as God had told me He would make a way for me to see the historical sights along the way, if I chose to attend and many I did and enjoyed the passages of time exploring and thinking of how all the ones that came before to live and travel to these areas actually had a lesser enjoyable occasion than I.

So, I drove around the immediate area near Dupont, and the fancy cars that were attending the hotels, they were way out of my league, thus, most likely the cost of those rooms were way out of my range, just a synopsis of mine. I chose to drive a couple of blocks further away and there were no hotels I saw. But, another couple of blocks now at least a half mile were some hotels and since i was a member of the IHG club and some others, I chose to stay at the Washington Hilton. God told me this trip hotels were going to be expensive and my-word they were, several nights they were over $400, but I would always ask for all kinds of discounts, yet nearly all of them had at least a 10% because of seniors, veterans, or some other form, almost all of the people working at the hotels were very accommodating and friendly.

As I checked into the Hilton, the lesser cost room was a corner room and it wasn't equipped with a refrigerator or microwave. I asked for the freezer of the refrigerator and because I had to unload all my bags onto a cart that was navigated by a bell-hop and sat in a holding area until I parked in the garage which was $50 each night. I took the elevator up to the main floor, found my belongings and the bell-hop insisted on taking my things up to my room on the third floor. Now, this hotel was shaped with curves in the architecture, though my room was just down a short hallway from the elevator. My room was between two suites. When I entered my room, there sat a refrigerator with no freezer and there was not a microwave. I thought there may have been one in the suites, so I inquired if I would have to pay extra for a microwave and was told that there were no microwaves in the hotel except for the galley and the coffee shop on the main floor. So much for the food products I had for the microwave, no popcorn.

It was getting later towards evening, I just grabbed my bible and sat down with a coke and a pack of nabs, then as usual I knelt down at bedside and prayed. As I had no lounge chair, there was an ottoman in front of the corner window. Afterwards, I laid down and slept into the following morning quite late. I awoke and decided to fast and prayed throughout the day, so my entire Saturday I stayed in my room. I must say, I slept some during the middle of the day, but stayed the course with studying my bible, talking to God and listening.  Sunday comes about and I decided to walk around the hotel a bit and the outside was very hot, but I found their terrace area very restful even with the heat and sat outside for some time. Later, I walked down a couple of blocks and ate at a bistro, met a Polish student, we talked about my favorite subject - - God.  Also, chatted about the area, his school and the food. I had a wonderful bow-tie pasta  carabiner with ham and it rivals the types I had in Italy, though this owner/cook was from South America. It was delicious and I had enough left over for another meal.

Monday morning arrives and I'm down to the breakfast bar, it was a freebie and sooo good. Afterwards, back up to my room to ready myself to go to the Embassy. The Transportation Clerk called me a taxi, he said it would be best at this time of day and they were in the driveway. And off I went to visit the Embassy, something I'd been awaiting to do for over six weeks.
