ARE YOU A BIBLICAL CHRISTIAN

Updated: Mar 14, 2024

  1. Just because ones parents are "Christian" does not make their off-spring one too. Even being a pastors child and adhering to their rules and regulations doesn't make one a "Christian."

  2. Going to church every Sunday and participating in services, such as singing in the praise band, or choir qualify one to be a "Christian."

  3. Reading the bible, whether comprehending the words, phrases, or even church doctrines and abiding by the denominational beliefs and teachings make one a "Christian."

  4. Living in a "Christian" Nation does not make one a "Christian."

And there are many more reasons that doesn't qualify one as a Christian.

Some years back I worked in a major department store as a Sales Representative, in fact there were several Christians that worked there, though we weren't to prophesize. A couple of the people were preacher's and we made an assessment of the folks coming into the store of various ages that we would ask a couple of questions about their views of Christianity.

There was one young lady that entered and she was asked, "Do you believe in a Higher Power either in Heaven or on Earth, and if so do you have a name for him or her?" I'll never forget her answer, I asked, "Are you a Christian?" She replied, "Yes." Then the question was, "And what makes you a Christian?" Her reply is a classic one actually, "I go to church."

What are the qualifications to being a Christian?

Do you have a Bible? If so, please get it and a writing instrument and paper.

Turn with me to the book of Romans in the New Testament.

If I may use some partial scriptures to guide this invitation please don't get angry with me.

That I may impart some spiritual gift to you, that may give you some understanding and begin to build your foundation.

Turn to Romans chapter ten verse nine, you might see this scripture written as such, Romans 10:9. But for a clearer view of what is being taught here back up to verse 8. Notice the phrase "The Word of Faith," this means one believes without seeing. Such as when you sit down in a chair, you have faith that it will hold you and not fall, even though you've not seen anyone sit in it before.

The Word of God is told through human words, printing, commentary, and symbols. Without having God living within you, as times all these will be meaningless, but with the Holy Spirit living within and through you, The Holy Spirit is our advocate, and teacher and greater understanding comes to us.

One of the first phrases that was given to me was, "Study the Precepts." These words were in my family bible and they were on two adjoining pages, the words read across to the other page, Study Precepts or Know Precepts." Different versions or translations may form sentences a bit different because of the interpreters of the original languages. Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic.

Let us get back to Romans 10:9; "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and ((believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, (exercising your faith)) you will be saved for with the heart man believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses resulting in salvation."

Faith, Godly Faith, believing in God's word requires Faith, but doesn't our own living require it too? Everyday living requires faith, but faith in humanism is different than Faith in God, for with God you'll have a helper through out your life in that of the Holy Spirit indwelling within you. There's no other joint relationship that will produce this type of guidance through your lifetime.

Qualities of Life

Did you know? Read the Bible and start with the book of John, where Matthew, Mark, and Luke are the same story about Jesus Christ from different writers. John is a bit different though inclusive with theirs he tells a more complete story of Jesus.

If you're new to bible lessons, then go to the first book and get some crucial foundational aspects of how life began here on earth. Genesis through Deuteronomy shows God's Blessings and Justice which are the foundations of learning about Our God Jehovah!
